V7 starts the same night that V6 ended, and occurs over several weeks, but it's unspecified. So it's three weeks behind the heroes plotline, by the time Cinder & Neo leave Mistral the heroes have been in Atlas for around two & a half weeks. Cinder plot line is taking place a month after the V5 finale, plus another week. V6 is two weeks after the finale of V5 and occurs over 4-days. The finale is the night before the Fall semester at Haven begins, so it's coming around to a year since the Fall of Beacon. The main timeline in V5 starts a short time after the ending of V4 (enough time for Qrow to recover) occurs over a month, same w/ v4 the other timelines are not necessarily happening chronological until the convergence at the finale. The WBY & Oscar/villains timelines are all happening throughout that 6-8 month timeskip plus the time leading up to RNJR arriving at Mistral. V4 is unspecified in time frame, but the main RNJR timeline is at least several weeks to a few months of travel time. There was a 6-8 month time skip between the end of V3 and the beginning of V4. So either the school year is already officially over, or it's in the process of ending. V3 begins with the preliminaries of the Vytal festival tournament at the end of the year underway. V1-3 was around a yr, v1 first semester, break between semester time skip, v2 part of second semester (the Fall semester), v3 is around a week or a little less, with a time skip from Fall to Winter at the end. So really, the thing is that the early volumes are way more spread out in time than the last couple of them, which are much more immediate.Īs of V7 around 2 yrs have passed since the start of the series give or take a few months. Volume 7 is another nebulous amount of time, almost all of which is covered in a montage in episode 5 - before that it's only a handful of days, and after that is maybe 48 hours. Volume 5 covers around a month (plus going back in time a bit to catch Blake's plotline up and give her time to move an army to Mistral), then has a two week timeskip before V6. Volume 1 through 3 cover a nebulous amount of time, generally considered to be at least a school semester's worth, maybe two (so a full year ish, in that case).īetween the end of Volume 3 and the start of Volume 5 - so all the timeskips plus Volume 4 itself - constitutes about another year. That's not necessarily two years, but it's definitely at least a year and change: So what we mainly have to go on here are out-of-universe statements from creators that Ruby is 15 at the start of the show, and 17 during Volume 6.
